Air Gandy - Flight over Banks Peninsula

Well on the 3rd attempt Dave & I finally made it over Banks Peninsula on March 24. This was after ealry morning fog, which managed to clear by the time we had completed the pre-flight checks. With 130 ltrs of fuel on board we set off. It was smooth flying, unfortunately the plane's radio stopped working out near Akaroa and the Flaps failed to function on the approach to Wigram. This all lead to an interesting landing, which was fast & bumpy. Fortunately we managed to stop before running out of runway and lived to tell the tale (see below for photos).

Project Okuti - Cabin Fever

In recent months the focus over at Okuti has moved from the house to the Logging Cabin. Having chosen a site for the Cabin, Stage 1 has involved acquiring building materials from local businesses (Gas Link & Aucom included), along with construction of an access track with bridge. Pictured below are the mighty Honda with a load of wood and the bridge.

Up, up and away.

Back on Feb 17 a mate of mine Dave offered to take me up flying. The original plan was to fly out over Banks Pennisula; however, the weather wasn't the best so we went for a bit of a flight over Christchurch. Below are some of the photos I took while in the air, they are of Dave & the plane, Halswell Quary, Bowenvale Ave and New Brighton.

Back on-line

Yes, you read it here first, Orac (my PC) is once again connected to the net. The previous Blog update was done while at work.

For those of you who are interested, the new job is going well and I am settling in nicely to life at Aucom. I have even managed to pass the Purchasing Initiation, which was to have a shot of Big Boss (Cashew fenny - Indian Alcohol).

Fenny is an Indian liquor made from either coconut or the juice of the cashew apple.

It was a bit like Japanese Saki or Chinese White Wine, all good though.
